REJECTION.

"Rejection" is a one-man performance that merges quantum field theory, neuroscience, and somatic choreography to question the very nature of selfhood. It imagines the quantum field as a vast, energetic archive—a library of unchosen lives, alternate personalities, and unrealized futures.
Through shifting movement states and altered physicalities, the performer becomes a vessel for these parallel selves to emerge and dissolve in real time.

The piece integrates a layered sound structure featuring three distinct voices:
  • A pre-recorded voice from a past improvisation that reflects on decisions once made;
  • An AI-generated voice representing possible futures, offering speculative instructions or provocations;
  • And the live performer, caught in the tension of the present moment, physically navigating these competing influences.

Together, these voices create a dynamic internal dialogue—constantly reevaluating “what should happen next.” This triptych structure forms a temporal braid of past, present, and potential, mirroring the quantum and neurological themes at the heart of the work.

Alongside quantum theory, Rejection is grounded in neuroscience—specifically the role of hormonal feedback loops in shaping emotion, memory, and personality. The piece explores how these internal “chemical scripts” are reinforced not only biologically but also culturally—where identity becomes a product of emotional self-regulation within a capitalist framework of performance, status, and consumption.

By rejecting the need to be coherent, consistent, or even “someone,” Rejection opens space for multiplicity, contradiction, and spacious awareness. It is a performance-as-thought-experiment—an invitation to artists, scientists, and audiences alike to reimagine what lives at the edge of identity, perception, and time.
